Hey all guess what? I got my car back.

For those that don't know my car had an accident but now It is fixed and just in time. Madison has the worst plowing system. They do plow although the've only plowed the streets once so far, and I have yet to see a single grain of salt or sand put down so all the roads are ice and many people have trouble going.

Also had good time in GB last weekend got to hang out with some friends and family and eat cake, what's not to like.

Work has been okay, really busy but we were closed because of the weather on wednesday so that was fun.

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com

RE: Pulled Fingers

So Cassie an I were chatting the other night and somehow we got onto the subject of the "pull my finger" joke. Cassie had mentioned that until recently her mother had never heard of this joke. Of course I found this hard to believe as did cassie since we both agreed that everyone knew this joke. But then we began to think about how everyone knew...

Neither of us could ever remember the first time this joke was placed before us yet we know the joke as far back as we can remember. I began to question a few others and got the same result. It is therefore my conclusion that the "pull my finger" joke is so old, it has become part of our inherit memories. Like the migratory paths of the bird or how the salmon know where to swim in order to breed. Mankind has carved this joke into our very DNA.

Now the way I see it there are only two ways we ever fall for this joke. The first is where you are like cassie's mom, in which you have received the recessive humor gene from both parents and you simple are unable to recognize the joke. The second is where you have a mental lapse that prevents you from immediately recognizing the joke until it is too late.

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com

musing from my fractured psyche

So I think I'm just going to write/type about random things today.

Did some geocaching last weekend it was good, was able to nearly find all the ones I looked for. I also grabbed a quick easy one after work yesterday. I think as long as the weather holds I may hit a cache after work each day this week.

Getting hungry. I think I'll go down to the cafe for lunch again. I eat there too often but they offer very good meals and pretty healthy stuff too. Yesterday was citrus chicken breast with a side of brochilli and some baked potatoes. Today is a open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and a veggie. And of course every thursday they make homemade pizzas which are divine. Also our vending machine has been offering pudding packs which make for a tasty dessert.

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com

the tale of the three toed beast

It was a dark and dreary night when I encountered, the three toed beast.

I was walking home from a busy day at the courthouse, the hour was late and the winter night was already as black as coal. While walking I began to hear footsteps that were not my own. I casually glanced behind me and from the corner of my eye I saw a shadowy apparition. I quickly turned around only to find the shadow gone, but there in the snow was its footprints, round and as wide as it was long it had three slender toes each as long as my index finger. Even in the cold night I wiped sweat from my brow, for I knew this would not be my last encounter with three toed beast.

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com

the problem with immortality

So I don't know if I ever mentioned this or not, but I don't know that many people that have died. I can probably count the number of funerals I've been to on half a hand all of which have been to people more closely related to my parents or grandparents than myself.

The closest person I remember ever dieing would be a great-grandfather but even then I didn't know him all that well aside from a full family get together once a year.

I say these things because one of my grandfathers is going in for surgery today to fix an internal defibulator that he has. He's been thought a lot of problems the past few years with both his heart and other things. And yet I am barely concerned, every time I see him (including in the hospital) he always seems fine, always in good spirits, ready to tell a joke.

The thought that something might happen and he'd be gone just doesn't seem possible. I can only wonder at how I might feel if he was gone, I know I'd be sad and miss him yet having never actually gone through it how can I know what it will be like?

Well anywoot there is nothing I can really do, it will all go down according to the big plan.

bored

Been struggling with a boredom streek lately, can't seem to find much to hold my interest. I'm still readint the wheel of time series here at work but at home I find myself getting bored easily. I've got shelves of dvds and plenty of games and tv to watch but nothing does the trick. I have a few other hobbies like building models and legos but I'm all out of those right now.

I'm too shy to join any gaming groups in madison, and haven't really made ant new friends that I would hang out with since I've moved here.

I'm not sure why that is either. Thinking back I think I've met almost all my current friend through someone else, it's not as easy as hopping in a sandbox and playing with some strange kid.

On other news... I did have a good time this last weekend at anna's place. I especially enjoyed the night cacheing. I'm sure we could have gotten all three if there wasn't so much growth. May need to try again in the late fall or spring.

I know some peeps mentioned coming to madison to see Paranormal Activity, I'd love to see it as well and would be happen to provide a bed for anyone that would need/like to stay the night.

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com

books n stuff

Okay my bookshelf is now way to tiny for the number of books that I have, and of course there are still more books out there I plan on getting :(

I've started a small "to read" list which is basically stuff I have and plan to get to as soon as I can. Problem is there is too many books and they all are so good.

So here is what I have what I'm toying with to read.
-enchanted forest chronicles
-narnia series
-the first three anne rice vampire books
-the works of HP Lovecraft
-lord of the rings
(Can you tell I have a thing for fantasy?)

In addition to this list of things I want to read I'm also in the middle of the wheel of time series and will probably continue to read that at work.

So yeah, what are you all reading or intend to read in the near future?

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com

more dreams

Had some more weird dream stuff last night, nothing as big as last night and more just fragments.

Best as I can remember I was on a team trying to break into a castle and we had to disable certain things in order to get in, like take apart some pipes then open a grate etc.

Next I remember having to assasinate some religous nut who was bribing a cop, but after killing him I get attacked by a giant demon and have to fight it.

So yeah still mostly weird but not as much stiff remembered this time

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com

kender's messed up dreams

Okay so here is the full recollection of last nights f-ed up dreams.

I start buy working at humana, but in a different building. I head up a few stories to drop off some papers and the IT guy sits me down along with two people I worked with when I was 16 and starts to interview us for a job.

He asks me an IT question about what PIZZA stands for and I said I didn't know, about this time the other two people leave and my current boss comes up and is mad at the IT guy for interviewing me.

After my boss leaves the IT guy asks if I'm A+ certified in microsoft home, which I know doesn't make sense but I answer yes. At this point he offers me the job and I tell him I need a day to think about it.

At this point I realize that I'm not in an office anymore but a classroom and it was time to go home.

So my friend and I get in my car, it's a blue STI and yet it is invisible. We speed along baird street dodging between busses and up in front of a road block. So I get out of my car (my friend having disappeared at this point) as I get out I get my foot stuck in a cherry tree. After freeing my foot I continue to walk home and notice several houses that had been burned down. Upon closer inspection I realize some people are already rebuilding these houses but are making them into a store owned by Oprah that sells toddler cloths and toys.

I then get home and realize I don't have my backpack and go into my neighbors basement and bring it upstairs. I drop it on the floor because its heavy with all my work and I look up to find friends of mine from high school asking me what's going on. I quickly explain about the new job but everyone is confused which makes one of the people (an old high school girlfriend) laugh and say how funny it all is, so I slow down and explain again and then the ex gets all mad for ruining the confusion and marches off. I go to follow and apologize and ask what her problem is but then I'm in a large wherehouse with a bunch of small ice shanty sized shacks.

A bunch of people are then running out of the shacks in fear as these weird nurses with TVs and giant harmonicas for heads start to chase them, I try to fight the nurses but I have no weapons and have to run too.

The end

So yeah how messed up is my psyche?

Post from mobile portal m.livejournal.com

So two nuclear physicists walk into a bar...

Okay so instead of talking about myself it's time we discussed inter-dimensional travel.

I came to the conclusion today that most people travel from one universe to another on a rather regular basis. I came to this conclusion while talking to several people today on the phone who asked for information, and after I explained the answer they became upset and stated that they had called previously and were given a different answer that was incorrect or at the very best less accurate. Now I took into account that perhaps these people perhaps were just stupid or that they people they talked to were just stupid. However the frequency in which this happens and the fact that half the time they are able to come up with a name of a person that doesn't exist leads me to believe otherwise.

I figure that if every choice we make (or don't make) results in a parallel universe to be created then there are a near infinite number of other realities. Now as any good astro-physicist will tell you. These differences can't be too great from our real universe otherwise the differences between the real universe and they cannot sustain themselves and collapse.

Now the way I see it pretty much everyone has done this. I mean think about it, how many times have you tore your room apart looking for something that you know for a fact you placed on your dresser only to find it an hour later on the nightstand. Or (as stated above) called a company two seperate times to the same area and gotten two different answers.

Other examples would be agreeing to meet a friend somewhere at a specific time but your or they are late because one of you just hoped into another reality where the meeting time was different.

Now for survival tips. If you think you may have just traveled to another universe step 1: Don't Panic. Step 2: Check to see just how different the new universe you are in if the only difference is that you seemed to have bought a different type of cereal just roll with it. If the world is ruled by Giant Cockroaches start to panic a little and try retracing your steps.

IT'S NEVER GOING TO END

Seriously I thought the delays and lengthening of the story would stop now that the main author is dead, but no!

http://www.dragonmount.com/Books/Gathering_Storm/

I suppose though there are indeed some loose ends that need time to be tied up and the first of the final three books is 688 pages... But still a series that was originally supposed to end in 9 or 10 books now stretching it to 14 each one averaging 750+pages, it's madness I tell you!

Woots

I went to St Louis and this is what I saw.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v285/kender00/St%20Louis/
please note all pictures were loaded as is so I have not weeded out the bad ones (not including the one showing me arse crack) or rotated the sideways ones

I may comment later about the happenings of the trip

In other news Cassie and have finished watching the final episodes of Battlestar Galactica and I must say WOW I can't get over how good that entire series was. There may have been one or two boring episodes but out of four seasons that very good.

Also I get it, I've heard a few people saying that some things were not explained or that they didn't understand some other things but I get it all. I really see how some of the things that have been a question since the first episode are answered. And in truth it's not the best answer unless you look step back and look at it from a diety perspective and it all makes sense.

And even without the big picture all the twists and turns things take along the way just suck you into what's going on at the time and you find yourself drooling as you queue up the next episode and wanting to see what happens next.

If any of you out there enjoy the smallest bit of Sci-Fi be it Trek, Wars, Fly, or Even Bab5, I Highly recommend this if you want to watch I've currently loaned all the DVDS we have (season 1 through first half of 4) to Anna to buy her dinner and watch with her!

I'm suprised how much I've written about this but you have to trust me, it really is that good. And to be honest I'm a little sad to see it go and yet happy it ended with full closure. And the Character devolopment is so well done, many times have I found myself loving a character then hating them or vice versa. There are some parts that are so moving, and even though I knew what some of the outcomes would be it still tugged at the heartstrings.

But for now I'll bring this rant to a close there is more I could say but I'm going to leave at this for now.

So say we all.
